CAVS-E Industry 4.0 Skills Accelerator Program - Community Outreach

Industry 4.0 Skills Accelerator (i4SA) Program includes a community outreach component designed to:

  • Focus on development of the current workforce by providing upskill opportunities to increase participant knowledge and skills associated with Industry 4.0 (i4.0) technology and tools
  • Build instructional capacity by equipping the educator community with the knowledge and tools necessary to develop classroom instruction and real-world activities to expose students to career pathways that use i4.0 technologies
  • Create an outreach campaign that will directly engage K-12 students, especially those in historically under-represented populations and provide exposure to cutting edge i4.0 technology to help them envision a pathway towards high quality jobs

This program will:

  1. Provide i4.0 demonstrations at the CAVS Extension Learning Lab (CELL) – host demonstration events for various entities including industry, instructors, career coaches, etc.to explore the i4.0 technology in use by industry and discuss industry best practices
  2. Deliver i4.0 Core Tools workshops to the K-12 educator community (e.g., CTE instructors, engineering clubs, career coaches) – deliver training to equip individuals with the knowledge needed to demonstrate the available pathways to the next generation of workers for advanced manufacturing jobs. Training workshops will focus on problem solving, troubleshooting of electromechanical systems, and cobot learning activities. (Sessions to be held during the summer of 2023, CEUs available)
  3. Host demonstration events at identified K-12 schools – provide exposure to students on jobs in advanced manufacturing through events involving i4.0 tools (cobots, autonomous mobile robots, small-scale production line, and virtual reality)
