Engineers from CAVS-E were invited by Taylor Machine Works to lead a 5S Kaizen event at one of their assembly plants. This 3-day event was aimed at enhancing the quality of the work environment through techniques and activities designed to improve manufacturing operations. Taylor Machine Works is a manufacturer of industrial forklifts and material handling equipment and its "Big Red" product line can be found on jobs throughout the world.

Taylor was provided with hands-on training and classroom-style lecture covering the principles and best practices of 5S processes. 5S is a five-step methodology that helps to create safer, more organized and productive workstations, enabling employees to improve and maintain higher productivity. 5S is also an integral part of Kaizen, which focuses on making incremental improvements in quality, efficiency, and waste reduction. The 5S pillars - Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain - provide a structured approach to organizing, cleaning, developing, and maintaining a productive work environment.
