This two day class will provide a practical understanding of geometric tolerancing that conforms to the ASME Y14.5M-2009 standard. The class will include lecture, videos, classroom discussion and workbook exercises which become an excellent resource for review and reference information upon completion of the class. Students will come away with an understanding of GD&T principles and applications, and will know how to interpret GD&T on engineering drawings. FUSION WELDING PROCESSES - Common fusion welding processes will be introduced including: shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, and flux core arc welding.

RESISTANCE WELDING PROCESSES - The resistance welding process for the joining of thin materials will be introduced.

• Welding Heat Transfer - Heat transfer in fusion welding: estimating peak temperatures and cooling rates. Effects of welding variables.
• Welding Metallurgy (carbon and stainless steels) - Metallurgical principles governing microstructure evolution in steels.
• Weld Defects - Common fusion weld defects and their prevention.
• Residual Stress and Distortion - Fusion welding results in the formation of residual stresses and distortion, both of which can impair performance and reliability. Practical methods for mitigating residual stress and distortion will be discussed.
• Fatigue Resistance of Weldments - Welding can seriously reduce fatigue resistance, and the fatigue behavior of welded components is very different from conventional machine elements. These differences are highlighted and practical design approaches will be presented.

Course objective is to develop participant skills in problem solving techniques that have been popularized under the banner of Six Sigma. Participants will apply these techniques on an approved project. Upon project completion participants will receive a Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.

Participant Involvement: The training will consist of 11 days scheduled during a five month period. Each participant is required to implement techniques and tools on an approved project that targets substantial benefits to their respective organizations. Each participant will receive consulting support both in and outside the classroom to assist with the successful completion of their project. It is anticipated that significant work outside the classroom will be expected in order to ensure maximum results from the student project.

SolidWorks Advanced Part - Focus of this course is on the fundamental skills, tools, and concepts central to successfully building multi-body and freeform shapes. Learn to create a boss by lofting between profile sketches, use the deviation Analysis tool to compare faces along edges, create advanced edge fillets, multi-radius fillets, and blended corners with setback distances. 2.5 day class.

The goal of this course is to teach the fundamental skills and concepts to build parametric models parts and assemblies and how to make simple drawings of those parts and assemblies. This 5-day course is designed around a process-based training approach emphasizing the processes and procedures necessary to complete a particular task. By utilizing case studies to illustrate these processes, you learn the necessary commands, options and menus in the context of completing a design task.

This two day workshop is structured so that participants gain a solid understanding of the use of Statistical Process Control to drive process improvement. The class is taught through a balance lecture, class discussion, class exercises, and follow-on participant projects. Specific topics include both variables and attribute control charting. Specific variables control charting tools include X-BAR and R charts, as well as X and Moving R. Specific Attribute charting techniques are also presented including P, C, and U Charts. Also process capability indexes are presented and explained (i.e., Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk). Throughout the class a strong emphasis is placed on how to connect SPC with root causes oriented problem solving. Key concepts are reinforced through the use of catapults to simulate the real world linkage between SPC and process improvement.
