The Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems-Extension and CAVS both attended the 16th annual Southern Automotive Conference 2023 (SAC) in October, which was held in Biloxi. The conference is the largest of its kind, serving the automotive industry from Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. SAC is hosted each year by the Southern Automotive Manufacturing Alliance (SAMA), which helps to promote and foster growth of the automotive manufacturing industry across the south. The conference provided matchmaking opportunities and presentations from prominent speakers designed to inspire careers and drive business forward. SAC is presented each year by the automotive manufacturing associations of Alabama (AAMA), Georgia (GAMA), Mississippi (MAMA), and Tennessee (TAMA). The event connected attendees with technology, innovation and industry leaders, and exhibit booths provided more time for one-on-one contact for networking opportunities. The Stars of Southern Manufacturing Awards were presented to recognize skills and personalities of employees at every level of an automotive company, from the managerial level to the factory floor. The southeast region of the country continues to be recognized for its first-rate automotive production and sound business environment.
